Campfire Cooking- Bag Omelettes

I got this idea from a friend of mine who’s mother in law used to do this while they were camping together.  Same idea as the Foil Packets in that you set up a station full of ingredients you might like in your omelettes.

  • Eggs
  • Shredded cheese
  • Diced ham
  • Diced green pepper
  • Other omelet fillings (optional)

In a ziplock bag, campers fill their bag with desired number of eggs, seal the bag then knead the bag to “beat” the eggs.  Campers may then add whatever add-ins are desired, press all the air out of the bag, knead again, write name on bag with a permanent marker and boil in a pot of water that has been warming over the fire.  When eggs are cooked, remove the bag with tongs and enjoy!
